Sydney
Wow, it’s been awhile since I updated my blog! I have been flat out since November last year. Lots of art stuff and lots of life changes. One of the most time consuming is my family and I have moved from Hobart in Tasmania to Sydney. On the art front I am currently working on a drawing for the Sir John Sulman Prize, which is run in conjunction with the Archibald prize at the Art Gallery of New South Wales. While I am not sure if I will even get my work into the exhibition, I will give it my best shot. The painting I am working on is based on one of my favourite Japanese folk stories, ‘Peach Boy’. I am also busy work with a good friend and amazing author, Nick Falk, on a series of his stories with Random House Australia. It is handy being in Sydney for publishing meeting. Lastly, I am reviewing my first handmade book, ‘The 9 lives of Oliver’ form 2003. I am looking to see if it can be re-written to make it suitable for commercial publishing. I have attached some scans of my character drawing. In the story, Oliver the cat lives 9 lives, spread throughout history, so heaps of fun things to draw and hopefully funny for those who read it. That’s about it, I will promise to update more regularly now that I’m settled in Sydney and have my computer up and running again.
