If your like me, you like stop motion animation.
Movies like
Corpse Bride, Frankenweenie, Wallace and Gromit
have proven that stop motion animation is not a thing of the past. My
cousins, brothers and I used to muck around with making simple stop motion animation
on Super 8 when we were kids. Lumps of plasticine and old toys had life
breathed into them through the wonders of film.
I have long though that in the digital age of 3D animated
movies that there must be some developments that could be adapted to stop
motion animation. I was lucky enough to go to a panel discussion at the Graphic
conference at the Sydney Opera House on the weekend. The majority of the panel were from Stoopid Buddy Stoodios, of Robot Chicken
fame. They showed a short stop motion animation called ‘Micro Mayhem’. When
discussing the process involved in making the film they talked about ‘Dragon
Frame’ software.
Today I did some research into Dragon Frame (Link http://www.dragonframe.com)
This looks amazing. It appears to be every thing that I am
looking for at a good price. If you follow the link you find a free trail
version. Im planning to give the trail version a go, and then put the 'Special
Offer Bundle' on my wish list.
If the trail work well, expect to see some animated Saurus
Street and Billy is a Dragon work soon. I might also get to my pet animation
project “Pteroman”.
If anyone out there has used Dragon Frame, let me know how easy you found it to use. If your from Dragon Frame and reading this. I would be happy to be test the whole package and write a review on it.
